Frank Warren has responded angrily to those questioning the legitimacy of Tyson Fury’s cut that he suffered in sparring.
The injury forced Fury to postpone his undisputed battle with Oleksandr Usyk, scheduled for February 18, and the pair will now renew hostilities in May with all four world titles on the line.
Since the announcement, Fury, who has shown photographic evidence of the cut, has been the subject of scrutiny by some within the boxing industry.
This speculation has brought a response from Warren, Fury’s promoter, and he has had his say on the people discussing Fury’s setback.
“Tyson wants the fight. Some of the stuff that’s been going out, I’ve never heard anything like it. It’s like some kind of cult against him,” said Warren when speaking to 5Live.
“Some stupid idiot was asking do we know it is real. I don’t understand how people making a living out of this game.
"Has Tyson got make-believe stitches in his eye? What they’re saying is quite libelous and scandalous. Tyson has been training like a demon since Christmas.”
