Frank Warren will once again be by Tyson Fury’s side as he looks to add another incredible chapter to his breathtaking story later this month.
For the second time this year, Fury will clash with Oleksandr Usyk, and he heads into the fight looking to avenge a defeat for the first time in his professional career.
Usyk took Fury’s unbeaten record back in May when he rallied brilliantly in the fight’s second half to claim a slit decision verdict on the scorecards after enjoying a stunning ninth round when he forced Fury to take a standing count.
Fury’s maiden career loss arrived following an eventful journey that was so close to being completely derailed following his 2015 win over Wladimir Klitschko.
Battling numerous personal issues and going up almost nine stone in weight, Fury’s health become people’s priority rather than his career.
Warren played an instrumental part in backing Fury and was a key figure when staging the British fighter’s comeback fights in 2018.
After defeating the likes of Deontay Wilder, Dillian Whyte, and Derek Chisora, Fury was once again a world champion, and he sat on tip of the heavyweight rankings with several elite operators just below him.Mark Robinson / Matchroom Boxing
Victory over Usyk in their sequel, live on DAZN on December 21, will see Fury return to the number one position, and Warren is proud of what his fighter has overcome.
The Hall of Fame promoter has been involved in many high-profile boxing occasions including Frank Bruno’s Wembley world title win and Naseem Hamed’s major American breakthrough, but where does he rank Fury’s rise when reflecting on his fondest memories in the sport.
“I think it’s probably been the most incredible out of all of them because of where he came from,” said Warren when speaking to DAZN.
“The fact he was a boozer, a drug addict, the problems being overweight. A lot of people had written him off.
“Not just physically, but mentally. I think what he’s done has been amazing.”
