The legendary trainer believes his illustrious student could call time on his career.

A key constant in Manny Pacquiao’s mesmerising rise was Freddie Roach.

The ex-fighter, one of boxing’s greatest ever trainers, prepared Pacquaio for the majority of his biggest fights in his Los Angeles gym and he was once again in the corner on Saturday night against Yordenis Ugas.

Pacquiao’s defeat at the weekend has sparked speculation that his lengthy career could be over.

Although very competitive against Ugas, Pacquaio was beaten on points and at the age of 42, it appears that his best days are well and truly behind him. Roach believes we may have seen the last of Pacquiao in a boxing ring.

“I hate to see the day he retires, but this could be it,” said Roach when speaking to Esquire. “He didn’t have a great performance tonight. We'll see what Manny decides. He’s boxed for a long time, and he’s boxed with me for a long time.”
