Gilberto Ramirez is targeting a fight with Dmitry Bivol as he aims to become a world champion at 175lbs.

The former ruler at super-middleweight has made a successful jump to light-heavyweight in recent years. His climb up the rankings has not gone unnoticed with the unbeaten star occupying lofty spots with three governing bodies.

Last month, the light-heavyweight division had the eyes of the world fixed on it as Bivol retained his WBA crown with a shocking win over Canelo Alvarez in May.

The following week, intent on making a statement, Ramirez looked superb as he stopped Dominic Boesel in four rounds. Now, the Mexican is looking to prove he’s the best in the division, and he can do that by getting past Bivol.

"The fight I want is Dmitry Bivol,” said Ramirez when speaking to DAZN. “More than anything, I'm excited because I already have fights, proposals. This year, I want to fight three times. Next year, three or four times. I want to stay active. The fact that now a lot of people know Bivol is a good thing because when I fight him, I'm going to get everything he has and especially the world title.

“I had the fight with Bivol before Canelo, but he said no, he wanted Canelo first, but it ended up being a good thing for me because he beat Canelo, and you see the credibility of the fighter. The credibility that Bivol has, and now when I fight him, you will see the credibility that Zurdo Ramirez has. I want to be world champion again, unify titles and eventually become a legend.”
