Hamzah Sheeraz believes that he would never be ready for a world title fight if he did not take his next bout against Carlos Adames for the WBC middleweight title next month.
The former Commonwealth and European champion will challenge for his first global crown at Riyadh Season's The Last Crescendo, live on DAZN Pay-Per-View on February 22.
Since turning professional in 2017, Sheeraz has steadily risen through the ranks as one of the most exciting British boxing talents of his generation, with an unbeaten 21-0 record.
Speaking in London ahead of next month's critical encounter however, the 25-year-old suggested that he could not afford to wait for another opportunity at this stage in his career.
"If I'm not ready now, I don't think I'll ever be ready," he told Monday's pre-fight press conference. "Ever since I was eight years old, that young kid wanted to win that belt.
"It's a hard task. I'm under no illusion what's in front of me, but I believe that I'm going to do the business. Come February 22, you're going to have a new champion.
"All I've got to do is keep working hard, and keep doing my thing. Once I get the opportunities, once I get the platforms, I'll deliver. It's a pinch-myself moment.
"These are fighters growing up you keep watching, and the next thing you know, you're sitting on a table with them. I'll always remain humble."
Sheeraz has record all but four of his wins by stoppage so far, and was ruthless in stopping Tyler Denny at Wembley Stadium last September in the second round.
