Heavyweight contender says he has the 'blueprint' on how to fight Oleksandr UsykMatchroom
How do you beat Oleksandr Usyk?

Derek Chisora was unable to defeat Oleksandr Usyk when the pair met in 2020, but the veteran heavyweight did have some small successes in the fight.

Usyk was expected to easily deal with Chisora and although he eventually won on points, he had to adjust at certain points and Chisora looked to use his size and strength.

Since overcoming Chisora three years ago, Usyk’s run at heavyweight has gone from strength to strength.

The following year, he defeated Anthony Joshua to become world champion and he followed up that victory by registering a second win in an immediate rematch before retaining against Daniel Dubois in August.

Chisora believes fighters in the division should adapt the approach he used for Usyk.

“I think I showed everyone the blueprint of how to fight Usyk, but people have chosen not to use it,” said Usyk when speaking to Simon Jordan on William Hill’s Up Front

“Be fit and use your size. I said that to Daniel Dubois, and he didn’t do it. For me, the thing with Usyk is that when he starts moving his hands up and down and you start moving with him, you’re in trouble.

“What you need to do is just hit him when he moves his hands. He’s very good, he’s an amazing fighter, but if you let him be an amazing fighter then he’ll walk all over you."
