Heavyweight contender says he would knock out Anthony Joshua in one round

Heavyweight contender says he would knock out Anthony Joshua in one roundMark Robinson/Matchroom Boxing

Martin Bakole has sent a stern warning Anthony Joshua as he looks to secure a big fight for himself at some stage this year following a successful 2024.

Bakole put the heavyweight division on notice last year when he registered an impressive win over the previously unbeaten Jared Anderson in August.

Despite that victory, Bakole has struggled to land a significant fight since the Anderson success, but that has not prevented him from targeting the biggest names.

As it stands, the heavyweight title will up for grabs on February 22, live on DAZN PPV, when Daniel Dubois defends his strap against Joseph Parker.

One other fight that could potentially take place in 2025 is a long-awaited showdown between Joshua and Tyson Fury, but that bout is still unconfirmed.

Bakole currently finds himself without a fight date, but that has not prevented him from making his feelings clear about a potential rival.

“‘AJ’ before he accepted the Daniel Dubois fight, I called him out. Himself, he came and said we could fight in Africa but now I’m disappointed he got knocked out twice by someone I knocked out in the gym,” said Bakole when speaking to IFLTV

“Imagine if it was me, I would knock him out cold in the first round. Now he’s talking bulls--t. I’m taking it serious this fight. I was looking for ‘AJ’ and now he’s saying Ajagba is going to beat me, I don’t know, disgrace. Be careful. I want him next.”
