Hughie Fury continued on his quest for another world title fight as he stopped Christian Hammer in Newcastle on Saturday night.

The 27-year-old heavyweight hopes to earn another shot at a belt - though he is unwilling to take on cousin Tyson Fury - and put away German fighter Hammer, who retired with a bicep injury in the fifth round.

Fury last fought for a strap in 2017 when he lost to Joseph Parker on points, but believes he has impressed since that defeat and over the course of the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the fight, Fury said he had not felt stretched in the fight.

"I had more gears to offer," he said.

"He was getting sick in there. My dad said: 'Keep hitting him with light shots and he'll go'.

“That was only 50 percent of me.

"The stoppage was coming no matter what. You could see Hammer was getting sick of being hit.

"I'm only 27. This is what I love to do - fight!"
