The DAZN Boxing Show considered the top three contenders in women's boxing.

Amanda Serrano has a claim to be the best fighter in women’s boxing, Ak and Barak suggested on the DAZN Boxing Show.

Serrano successfully defended her WBC and WBO featherweight title against Yamileth Mercado as the co-main event to Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley on Sunday night.

However, Claressa Shields and Katie Taylor are both undisputed champions in their respective divisions, which Barak Bess believes sets the pair apart from the Puerto Rican unified champion.

Akin ‘Ak’ Reyes said: “Amanda Serrano, seven division world Champion.

“The body attack that she displayed in that fight alone was so impressive, because when you fight a fighter that's in retreat, on the ropes and not that offensive, it's easy to look good landing body shots. And in this defence mode, a lot of times we see fighters land left hooks, right hooks to the body.

“But Amanda was doing it against a fighter that was engaging right there in the pocket, throwing back, because she was taking risks on a fighter that was actually throwing head shots in the pocket, and she was still throwing and committed.

“She was completely committed to the body non stop. I mean going right back at the body after each exchange, after each round. She wanted to break her down as she did so. She almost scored a knockdown, landed a huge right hook and had you know her opponent, Mercados was rolling.

“Kudos to Amanda Serrano. I mean, I can't wait to see her again. I'm glad she was displayed on this type of platform. I'm glad Jake [Paul] put her in that position. She deserves it. And I can't wait to see it again.”

Barak admitted he now found it hard to separate the trio.

“I think we are at the point now where just like when it was Canelo [Alvarez], [Vasily] Lomachenko or Terence Crawford, and they were almost interchangeable,” he began.

“Amanda Serrano was probably the best female fighter in the world today because she has two legit fights this year. And her performances are the most dominant in boxing.

“Kind of like Canelo has the most accurate, what's the most accomplishments, but then you have Bud Crawford, who's right behind him, who's the most dominant, who's destroying everybody. He doesn't have the opportunities to fight the best in the world because they just haven't fought him yet. That's Amanda Serrano.

“It's okay to say she's the best female fighter in the world. She fought two times this year against champions. And it's okay if Clarissa or Katie Taylor comes back and fights a good opponent. And if they're very dominant to say, ‘Okay, now they're at number one.’

“But I don't want to be scared to say that Amanda Serrano is number one now because in reality, if you're talking about accolades, since they're both undisputed and Claressa Shields has way more accolades, and everybody being undisputed in both, she'll always be number three, we have to go back to the old days where it was about skill, and how you're beating people you know, or you'll never really get the credit.

“That's why she's like, ‘I don't even want to fight Katie Taylor right now. I want to become undisputed like those girls.’”
