Cyrus Pattinson believes Chris Jenkins is still a threat ahead of their meeting for WBA international welterweight title on Saturday night live on DAZN (except Australia and New Zealand).
For Pattinson, this weekend is a huge moment in his professional career as he headlines in his home city of Newcastle for the first time, and a win over Jenkins would go a long way in making the 28-year-old the poster boy of boxing in the North East.
However, while Pattinson is considered a favourite against Jenkins who arrives in Tyneside on the back two consecutive losses, Pattinson claims that his fellow Brit remains a dangerous force.
" [Chris] Jenkins has got a lot of accolades and accomplishments; he’s been at that level, when I was GB [champion], he was reigning British and Commonwealth," Pattinson told The DAZN Boxing Show.
"He’s a very tough opponent and someone that has been at that level for a long time.
"People are trying to say he’s on the slide, but I don’t think that.
"If you look at his last performances, a lot of people say he should have beaten [Tyrone] McKenna, he was beating [Florian] Marku on points at the time of the stoppage.
"You’re not going to change that much in four, five, six months.
"I’m expecting a tough fight on Saturday night, but I 100% believe that WBA title is going to be around my waist and I am going to be leaving victorious."
