The DAZN Boxing Show discussed how Devin Haney compares with Floyd Mayweather.
Mayweather is a multi-division champion, now retired, boasting a blemish-free 50-0 professional record.
Since then he has made exhibition appearances but appears unwilling to risk his perfect score with a professional return.
He is seen as one of the greatest fighters of all time, and Barak Bess suggested that there were similarities with Haney.
Haney was in Australia this past weekend for a rematch with George Kambosos Jr. Haney had added the IBF, WBA and WBO belts to his WBC strap in their first fight, and was in control over 12 rounds as he retained all four.
Speaking on the DAZN Boxing Show, Bess thought the lack of weaknesses in Haney’s game brought back memories of Mayweather.
He said: Devin Haney looked like an all-around fighter, he’s one of those fighters who reminds me of Floyd Mayweather where, you can’t really devise a game plan against a fighter like him.
“We asked Sugar Ray Leonard, ‘What would you do if you fought Floyd Maweather?’ and he said, 'I’d probably have to hit him on his arms.'
“In other words, he looks like somebody who is incredibly hard to beat. There’s no real holes in [Haney’s] game and he showed that again. He showed he can mix it up a little bit more than he did before.
The judges got it right one more time. He showed he has speed, athleticism and a brilliant IQ, way above Kambosos. I thought he was going to turn it up a little bit - he did.”
