Adam Catterall and Nick Peet discussed on the DAZN Boxing Show if Manny Pacquiao’s fight with Yordenis Ugas would be his last.
Catterall said: “What we've got to do is celebrate Manny Pacquiao, he's 42 years of age - how many other fighters this years of age as Manny Pacquiao is, would take a fight on 10 days notice against an opponent with a totally different style?
“And with all due respect to Ugas, with a lot less reward for the risk that is involved since you're Manny Pacquiao, you want to move on, and he's still setting examples for those younger fighters coming through.”
Peet also praised the decision for Pacquiao to find another opponent rather than call the whole thing off when Errol Spence Jr had to pull out with retina damage.
“He's a living legend,” he began.
“There's no other way to describe him as he, you know, he literally had the choice of any welterweight or lightweight on the planet he could have hand-picked to step in for this fight.
“Instead, he loses Spence. And he basically goes, right, who's the toughest guy out there next in line? Who's at the top of the list over Spence? And obviously, Terence Crawford or whoever, you know, who's the other guy out there? And Ugas is at the top of the list. And he's done right, ‘Give me that guy.’
“That just says everything you need to know about the legacy that Manny Pacquiao was about to leave behind - the calibre of opponents that he wants to fight.
“This is the end, you know, that I've seen. I've seen mixed messages this week. I've seen this is going to be Manny's last ever fight. I've seen another one saying Manny is gonna have one fight before the end of the year. And that's probably going to be his last ever fight.”
