Jack Catterall reveals reason for fight with Regis Prograis after ending rivalry with Josh TaylorMark Robinson/Matchroom Boxing
The pair meet in a headline clash this August.
Jack Catterall believes his upcoming fight with Regis Prograis is the biggest bout he could get outside a world title, after closing the door on his saga with Josh Taylor.

Catterall finally defeated Taylor in May, two years after suffering a contentious points defeat to the Scot, but instead of that victory propelling him to a title fight, he instead faces Prograis this August.

Speaking with SportsBoom, Catterall revealed he didn't want to wait around to get back in the ring and is looking forward to his showdown with the American.

“That chapter with Josh is closed. It’s a new chapter now," he said.

“I’ve been sitting on the shelf for too long in the past. I didn’t want to be waiting until the back end of the year or maybe early next for a shot. I’ve had momentum and I don’t want to be waiting for fights that might not happen.

“It’s important I stay busy. After beating Josh, it was straight back to the gym.

“This is a huge fight for me and also for Regis. It’s pivotal for both of us and it’s one that really excites me, probably the biggest it’s possible to get without a title being on the line.”
