Jack Catterall is looking at a big fight next year.

Jack Catterall took another step closer towards a world title shot following a dominant win over Jorge Linares at the M&S Arena in Liverpool.

Catterall was always one step ahead of the experienced Venezuelan and that was reflected on the scorecards as the Chorley man impressed the judges leading to totals of 117-111 and 116-112 x 2

Linares began the fight in a confident manner as he looked to take control with his busy jab, but he wasn’t able to maintain it once Catterall figured him out.

Once one of boxing’s premier performers, Linares, a three-weight world champion, has undoubtedly seen better days and Catterall was fully aware of that as he pulled into a big lead by the halfway mark including an impressive fifth round where he briefly buzzed his opponent.

The pace slowed in the fight’s second half, but it was still Catterall doing all the pushing as he came out on top in almost every round.

After the final session, it was obvious who was the victor and Catterall can now look forward to bigger fights in 2024.

“[Josh] Taylor, where are you? S—thouse,” said Catterall when asked who he wanted next.

“There’ll be no respect against Josh Taylor,” added Eddie Hearn, Catterall’s promoter. “For me, I want to see Jack Catterall vs. Josh Taylor in 2024.”
