The next major boxing event takes place on Saturday from Anaheim, Calif.
The main event has former junior middleweight champion Jaime Munguia taking on former two-time middleweight title challenger Gabe Rosado in a 160-pound affair.
As always with a big-time boxing card, there are certainly plenty of bets to be made. Let's take a look at some of them.
Jaime Munguia vs. Gabe Rosado odds
Jaime Munguia: -750
Gabe Rosado: +500
(All odds via BetMGM)
BetMGM (as of Friday, Nov. 12) has Munguia installed as a massive favorite — coming in at -750, meaning you'd need to bet a whopping $750 just to win $100. Meanwhile, Rosado is a +500, meaning if you pluck down $100, you will win $500.
After a successful run at 154 pounds in which he captured the WBO belt and made five consecutive title defenses, Munguia (37-0, 30 KOs) ventured up middleweight and has gone 3-0, with all of them coming via stoppage. Now, he takes on his most formidable opponent and perhaps his stiffest test in his professional career.
Rosado (26-13-1, 15 KOs) had been primarily viewed as a gatekeeper throughout his career. However, the narrative changed when he took on former two-time middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs in November 2020. Jacobs won a tight split-decision victory that most felt Rosado should have won in a nip-and-tuck bout. Instead, Rosado continued his momentum in June, notching a "Knockout of the Year" win over Bektemir Melikuziev.
Munguia vs. Rosado prediction
It's a little surprising that the odds are this high in favor of Munguia.
Rosado isn't a pushover by any means. He's shared the ring with Jacobs, Gennadiy Golovkin, Jermell Charlo, and Peter Quillin. Munguia's not taken on anything close to the opposition of Rosado.
A significant change for Rosado has been the implementation of Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach. Without Roach, the native of Philadelphia isn't sure he'd be on the run he's on.
"I think everything happens for a reason," Rosado told DAZN News earlier this week. "I've always had the ability, the skills, and the IQ man. If I don't have that right person leading the camp, then I'm gonna dictate the camp, and I'm gonna call the shots. It was just me having that talk with myself. I was like, ‘If I really, really want to take this to that next level, I'm gonna have to get someone that I'm going to respect, and I'm just gonna lock-in with them'. Freddie was that guy. Freddie was that guy that I knew that if I got Freddie, who's gonna be straight down to business."
Munguia seems to finally be getting into a groove at middleweight. He struggled to make 154 pounds, so making the trek to middleweight and bringing the power with him hasn't been an issue. Instead, he's been steadily upping the quality of fighters in each and passing fight, with Rosado being the best of the bunch.
We are going to learn about Munguia. How's he going to be able to handle the rugged style of Rosado? Will Munguia be able to handle the pressure?
Rosado has nothing to lose and everything to gain. He can come in loose and not have a worry in the world.
The best play is a Rosado win via stoppage at +1000 is a tempting proposition because of what happened in the Melikuziev fight.
