Jake Paul has claimed that he has retired from boxing, despite entertaining the idea of future fights in the aftermath of his latest win.
Paul moved onto a 4-0 record with a tough-fought win over former UFC champion Tyron Woodley.
While the 24-year-old YouTuber won on a split decision, it was the first fight that saw him rattled and tested by an opponent, and has led to speculation that he will have to wait for a fight with Tommy Fury.
Speaking after the fight, Paul admitted: “I've been boxing for 18 months now. I haven't been to the dentist, I haven't got my hair cut in two years.
“My teeth are crooked, my nose is crooked.
“I might need to chill out for a second, I'm only 24. I'm changing and growing a lot, I'm making mistakes. I'm going to get back to the gym when I'm ready. I didn't fight my best tonight. I gave myself a C minus.”
He later tweeted that he was ‘retired,’ which may disappoint Fury and Conor McGregor, who are both eyeing a big PPV event. Fury’s promoter Frank Warren has also suggested that a fight between Fury and Paul could be held in the UK, which might see his fighter take part in another US match-up to kill time before Paul is ready to return to the ring.
