Oscar De La Hoya believes Mike Tyson’s power can be a huge factor when he returns to action later this month in a blockbuster clash.
Tyson, the former two-time heavyweight world champion, will compete as a professional fighter for the first time in almost 20 years when he steps into the ring with Jake Paul.
The popular YouTuber, still a novice boxer, has spent his time in boxing building his record against a variety of opponents including MMA stars and fighters with similar experience to himself.
In Tyson, Paul will be facing one of the sport's biggest ever names, but he’ll hold a major advantage in youth as his opponent closes in on 60 years of age.
Once the most menacing boxer in his sport, Tyson’s peak saw him blitz his way through the vast majority of his rivals as he reigned as undisputed champion.
Wins over the likes of Larry Holmes and Michael Spinks made him the best heavyweight of his era, and he also contributed massively when active in the following decade.
After a 2005 loss to Kevin McBride, Tyson decided to walk away from boxing, but he has competed in multiple exhibition bouts since his last official bout.
The New Yorker begins his fight with Jake Paul a slight underdog, and De La Hoya has had his say on how the battle could play out.
“If it’s before three, four rounds, I have to go with Tyson by knockout, that one punch knockout,” said Tyson when speaking to Fight Hub TV .
“If it goes past four rounds, I have to worry about Tyson’s conditioning, and where Jake Paul’s youth can take over. I’ve seen Jake Paul’s videos, he looks big, he looks huge.”
