Jarrett Hurd is backing Canelo Alvarez to enhance his dominance at 168lbs when he faces Jermell Charlo later this month.
The Mexican star will defend his world titles at super-middleweight, and he begins the bout a significant favourite as Charlo will be jumping two weight divisions looking to cause a big upset.
Hurd, a former world champion at 154lbs and repeatedly linked to a fight with Charlo, is not giving the Texan much hope in this contest.
Despite possessing an impressive record and also holding all four world belts at super-welterweight, Hurd thinks Charlo is in for a rough night and he’s backing Canelo to emerge victorious.
“I think Jermell ain’t got nothing to do with Canelo,” reported Boxing Scene after Hurd had recently spoken to the media. “He’s gonna get stopped. I think it’s too much of a jump for him.”
“Canelo is one of the hardest punchers at 168. He’s stopping people at 175, he’s competing at 175. I don't think no 154 Jermell Charlo got nothing for Canelo.”
