Jeff Fenech believes that a fight between Tim Tszyu and Canelo Alvarez is possible. The Australian fight legend has spoken highly of Tszyu in past interviews, and he thinks a fight between the super-welterweight contender and Mexican icon could happen.
Camelo was impressive once against last weekend when defeating Caleb Plant to become the undisputed champion at 12st. Later this month, Tszyu continues his climb to the top in a meeting with Takeshi Inoue. Both fighters are on different career paths but Fenech, a former world champion, can envision a bout between the pair.
“I heard Tim mention not that long ago, that Canelo was beatable,” said Fenech when speaking with Fox Sports’ Ben Damon. “I wouldn’t put that past him. Canelo is big and strong and throws eight to ten punches a round. Tim throws fifty or sixty or maybe more. It’s a big difference.
“Tim knows himself he will be moving up in weight. Canelo is not a massive guy for his weight division. Canelo might come down a division and Tim might go up one and, wow, I know who I would put my money on.”
