Jermall Charlo: I'm going to knock David Benavidez's punk a— outDAZN
Charlo is plotting a move up to super middleweight.

Jermall Charlo wants to take on David Benavidez and believes he will easily beat the super middleweight.

Middleweight Charlo had previously suggested that he would need Benavidez to be vaccinated for the coronavirus before any fight could be entertained, but has since told The Last Stand Podcast with Brian Cluster that he would be ready to fight him.

“Yeah. Let’s make that fight happen,” Charlo said. I’m going to knock his little punk a— out. I promise that. I put that on everything I love.”

Benavidez has emerged as the WBC super middleweight mandatory challenger after beating Ronald Ellis on March 13, and has for some time earmarked Charlo as his desired next opponent.

Charlo, meanwhile, has decided that he would be willing to move up a weight, with the pair of them on course to contest their respective unbeaten records. The 30-year-old fighter does not think any match-up would go the distance.

“I give him four rounds, five rounds. I knock him out in about five rounds, six rounds — no more,” Charlo said. He’d get hit too much. I’m powerful. I’ll explode on him. Trust me, I do my thing. I’ve been doing this all my life. Put me in there. Put me in there with… bro, I’m a lion, bro. Let’s get it.”

Charlo last fought in September 2020 with a unanimous decision victory over Sergiy Derevyanchenko. Twin brother Jermell fought on the same card, becoming unified WBC, WBA, and IBF champion with a win over Jeison Rosario.
