The American made history and holds all four belts.

Jermell Charlo celebrated an ‘unbelievable’ win over Brian Castano on Saturday night.

The 31-year-old American brough the IBF, WBA and WBC belts into the ring and his Argentine opponent was the defending WBO champion.

The pair fought last year to a draw that many - except the judges - scored Castano’s favour. A rematch was quickly rescheduled but a bicep injury left the American frustrated and he subjected his rival to a series of outbursts on social media.

While tension never quite threatened to boil over there was clearly a score to be settled, and Charlo ultimately put the rivalry to bed with a 10th round knockout.

Speaking after the fight, Charlo said: "This is unbelievable. I gave it my all and that was the end result of it.

"I was pretty sure he was going to get back up because it was only the first knockdown but I knew it was over.”

Castano, who watched Charlo become the first four-belt super welterweight champion, was gracious in defeat.

"We both were fighting back and forth. It was power back and forth, and then his right hand came over and stopped the fight. He's a champion. He hit me. He got me," he acknowledged.

"We showed that we are warriors. That's the main thing. We have to feed our families."
