The winner of Caleb Plant and David Benavidez on March 25 will find themselves a step closer to facing Canelo Alvarez, who sits at top of the 168lbs rankings.
The outstanding fight is less than two weeks away and with many in the boxing industry unable to make their pick, Jermell Charlo is backing Plant to get the job done.
The Texas fighter, the number one super-welterweight in the world, looks set to defend his crown against Tim Tszyu later this year.
Although his main focus is on getting ready for that fight, Charlo is fully aware of how big Plant vs. Benavidez is and he has no issue in getting behind Plant and backing the Tennessee man to secure victory.
“Y’all already know. I’m rocking with Plant. Plant got the boxing skills,” said Charlo when speaking to Showtime.
“Benavidez is just one-dimensional. He’s going to come forward, and he’s going to put a lot of pressure, but styles make fights. It’s going to be a good one. Y’all know I’m rocking with Plant.”
