The American will seek to defend his WBC super-flyweight title in Philadelphia this weekend.

Jesse Rodriguez admitted that he would love to battle Fernando Martinez down the line, but insists he is fully focused on Pedro Guevara before their clash live on DAZN tonight.

The American fighter, known as Bam, is looking to defend his WBC super-flyweight title against the Mexican at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for the first time.

One of the sport's major rising stars stateside, Rodriguez is staying firmly on track for his latest bout, having stopped Juan Francisco Estrada in seven rounds last time out.

Victory could pave the way for a unification battle with IBF and WBA champion Martinez, but while the star is keen on a clash, he is keeping his gaze firmly on the task at hand.

"The fights will come," he told The Stomping Ground. "If unification comes, that's perfect. If not, we've got other fights to go to as well. I would love a fight with Fernando Martinez.

"I don't think about it too much. A hundred percent, I'm focused on this fight. This is a very dangerous fight. Pedro Guevara, it's a huge opportunity for his career.

"He could change his whole life in one night. So I'll stay focused on this fight and make sure that doesn't happen on Saturday night."

Rodriguez has been mooted for a potential bout with four-weight superstar Naoya Inoue down the line before too, with the Japanese fighter currently at super-bantamweight.

The 24-year-old did not discount it when asked if he will face him one day, adding:: "I believe so, I always believe that we will meet down the line, but it's just a matter of time."
