The two experienced heavyweights are waiting for a title fight to present itself.

Joe Joyce and Joseph Parker’s teams are in discussions over a fight between the heavyweights.

Parker is the former WBO champion, while Joyce is ranked No. 1 by the same governing body.

With Oleksandr Usyk preparing for a rematch with Anthony Joshua, and Tyson Fury planning to take on Dillian Whyte in defence of his WBC belt, there is no title available for the rest of the heavyweight division to contest.

Joyce suffered a wrist injury in his most recent fight against Carlos Takam, while Parker is coming off the back of two well-received victories over Derek Chisora last year.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Adam Morallee of SJAM management - representing Joyce - said: "It's a massive fight. We're still negotiating it - it's not finalised yet but good progress is being made.

"It's the biggest fight outside the top four guys fighting. It's the biggest fight on the heavyweight scene right now.

"We hope we can land it and we hope we can land in the UK for the UK fight fans to watch Joe Joyce continue his ascent to the top of the division."

Joyce had been mentioned as a potential stop-gap opponent for Joshua but now his rematch appears certain, Parker will likely be ready for action after being part of Fury’s training camp for the last few months.

The winner of any fight would hope to earn the right to take on the victor of Usyk vs. Joshua, expected to take place in June.
