Frank Warren believes that Derek Chisora’s career could be over if he loses to Joe Joyce on Saturday night.
The two heavyweights top a bill tonight that sees both men with something to prove the public.
Joyce’s last fight was an unconvincing win over Kash Ali, while Chisora is yet to fight in 2024 after beating Gerald Washington last year.
Joyce lost convincingly to Zhilei Zhang in back-to-back defeats before his win over Ali, and it had seemed he had come to the end of the line.
However, an impressive win for either man in their fight ( live on ESPN+ in the US ) could quickly put them back in the conversation for higher-profile match-ups.
Speaking to BoxingScene , promoter Frank Warren said he was concerned for Chisora “But he’s fighting on – they want the fight, the pair of them.
“We gave [Joyce] a list of opponents – this is the fight they said they wanted. This fight for him, where does he go with it? If he loses it, I don’t see where he goes.
“If he weren’t fighting on our show, he’d be fighting on someone else’s. He’s fighting a guy a similar age, who’s also entering a jeopardy fight.
“He’s a guy that’s going to carry on fighting."
