Promoter Frank Warren warned both Joe Joyce and Derek Chisora on the risks of prolonging their career any further.
Joyce is 38 and Chisora two years older, and both of them have been through the wringer over the course of their careers.
The two heavy-handed sluggers came together on Saturday night at the O2 in a fight that many believed would see the loser take retirement, and give the winner the chance to end things on a high.
However Joyce said that he still felt “pretty fresh,” and Chisora hopes to reach 50 fights before he retires - two more to go.
Warren orchestrated last night’s fight and he was full of praise for them both.
“Two absolute true warriors. What a fight,” he said. “Just unbelievable. It takes two to make a great fight. That was epic.”
Warren continued: “I never thought this fight would go the distance.
“And it tells you a lot about the both of them. The fact of the matter was it was a close fight, it was those last two rounds.
“We’ll sit down and talk to them to see where we go.
“That was a brutal fight, and those fights will, at the end of the day, catch up with you.”
