German heavyweight Erik Pfeifer believes he would have knocked out Daniel Dubois quicker than Joe Joyce managed last year.
Pfeifer had been due to fight Dubois in August 2020 but was abruptly replaced by Ricard Snijders. Dubois knocked Snijders to the canvas four times and stopped his opponent in the second round.
Pfeifer thinks he could have defeated the 23-year-old fighter had he been given the nod.
"Everyone knows why they took another guy and fight with them, not with me," Pfeifer said to Sky Sports.
"They only told me one week before the fight. I was the whole time in training and was happy to fight with Daniel Dubois, and then they changed me. It was not fair and wasted all my camp.
"We had a press conference and I see up close fear in his eyes. He quit against me before he quit against Joyce. He has no heart and is not a real fighter. He is a quitter."
Joyce was the winner when he fought Dubois, knocking him out in the 10th round as the youngster took a knee following damage to a nerve and a fractured orbital bone.
Watching that defeat gave Pfeifer believe he would have won in similar fashion.
He said: "I think so. When he hits someone, he just stands there. That's a mistake.
"Technically, I'm much better than Daniel Dubois."
While Joyce is on course to meet Oleksandr Usyk for the WBO title, 34-year-old Pfeifer hopes to one day meet Joyce in the ring.
"I wish Joyce a lot of good fights," said Pfeifer.
"He's a good guy, I like him. Hopefully we can have a fight between us.
"I would love to fight everybody."
