'Cojones!' - Johnny Fisher unbothered by result after Dave Allen victoryDAZN

Johnny Fisher admits he is more bothered about proving he has "cojones" to the British boxing world than the result of his victory over Dave Allen last weekend.

The Romford Bull edged a controversial split decision contest in Riyadh on the undercard of Oleksandr Usyk's rematch victory over Tyson Fury at the Kingdom Arena.

It marked the longest bout of Fisher's career, as he went the distance against his former sparring partner and survived a fifth round knockdown to prevail on points.

The decision to award him victory over Allen was met with derision by many, but afterwards, Fisher acknowledged he was less focused on the result that his performance.

"I had to go to the well," he told The Stomping Ground. "I did, and I’m proud of myself. It’s a boxing match. The judges score what they see. It was a close fight

"It wasn’t like it was all one-sided. It could have been scored his way easily, but it was scored my way. I’m not bothered about [the result].

"What I’m bothered about is that I’ve shown to the British boxing world that I’ve got some cojones. You’re going to have to use a baseball bat to stop me.

"I don’t want to quit, and I’m never going to be a quitter. I’m not the best in the world, I’m not a world beater. I’m a man from Romford, and I’ve got family values.

"One of them is being a good, old-fashioned Englishman, and never taking a backwards step. That’s what it is – honour."
