'I can't stand the term!' - Johnny Fisher not planning move to influencer boxing despite social media savviness

'I can't stand the term!' - Johnny Fisher not planning move to influencer boxing despite social media savvinessMark Robinson / Matchroom Boxing

Johnny Fisher has vowed that he will not become involved with influencer boxing despite the social media success of his own family entourage before his bout with Dave Allen.

The Romford Bull is on the undercard of Riyadh Season's Reignited on December 21, fighting beneath Oleksandr Usuk and Tyson Fury's rematch live on DAZN Pay-Per-View.

The rising star's family, including father Big John, will be in attendance, with the latter having become a minor celebrity known for his popular catchphrases and Chinese cuisine.

Speaking exclusively to DAZN before his bout at the Kingdom Arena in Saudi Arabia however, Fisher refuted any idea he would cross over to the sport's growing influencer scene.

Usyk vs Fury competition

"First and foremost, I’m a professional boxer," he said. "You live in an age now where people want to be entertained and they want to consume content.

"That isn’t about being someone you’re not, it is about conveying who you are to people a little bit better. That’s what we’ve done well.

"I think we’re good at letting people into our lives. That doesn’t mean I’m going to be an influencer boxer. I can’t stand the term. I’m a professional boxer, and that’s what I’ll always do."

Influencer boxing, which sees various social media stars and personalities compete in the ring, has grown substantially oer the past half-decade from amateur to professional level.

Jake Paul defeated legendary heavyweight Mike Tyson in a professional bout in November, while other online stars litter the cards of Misfits Boxing and their X Series events.
