Jose Ramirez is fully aware of how significant Saturday’s unification bout with Josh Taylor is. All four major world titles at 140lbs are on the line as the unbeaten pair compete for supremacy and Ramirez, a fighter who’s devoted to his craft, is desperate to prove that he’s the best.
From humble beginnings in California’s farming community, hard work and desire have long been attributes installed in Ramirez from an early age. Assisting with his family’s farm work, Ramirez has applied the same attitude to his career and no stone has been left unturned as he prepares for battle this weekend.
"I'm a very straight person, I don't want to lie to anyone,” declared Ramirez when speaking to DAZN. “For me it's easy - I beat the best, I'm the best. When someone says it, maybe people eat it up sometimes, but I respect boxing, the public and the people who follow me and I want to prove it with facts.”
Ramirez continued, “I imagined myself in the biggest fights against the best and that's what I'm doing fighting with the best. The time will come when I move up a division, but now I can say that I fought the best and then I moved up and I will look to do the same in that new division. I have faith in myself. I have what it takes to go far in the sport. With champions like Josh Taylor, I get in the eyes of many more."
