The former WBO champion praised the current WBC title holder.

Tyson Fury is a ‘different beast’ in training compared to other fighters, said former world champion Joseph Parker.

Fury fought once last year in a trilogy rematch against Deontay Wilder, impressing with his durability and power. He had perhaps hoped to face off against Anthony Joshua to become the undisputed heavyweight champion, but that fight might come instead against Oleksandr Usyk later in the year.

The WBC champion is reportedly keen to fight two or three times in 2022, with the 33-year-old in training in Morecambe as he prepares for what could be a mandatory defence against Dillian Whyte in the coming months.

With Parker unable to return to New Zealand because of coronavirus restrictions, he spent some time with Fury in training, and the former WBO champion was impressed by what he saw.

He said: “Tyson’s a different beast altogether,” reported The Sun.

"I’ve trained alongside him and I know the levels.  Out of everyone I’ve seen and trained with, he’s up here.

“After the Vegas fight, we let loose – Tyson and I - it was the best time. We went to some club, he got on the stage, it was crazy.

“Then we came back to Morecambe, let loose again and then camp started.

“He doesn’t muck around in camp. We don’t muck around in camp. But when we have fun, we have fun. And it’s the best fun.”
