Josh Taylor is on course to fight Terence Crawford in Scotland to challenge for the WBO welterweight title, claimed Bob Arum
Top Rank head Arum promotes both fighters and believes that pitting the two undefeated champions together would make for a high-profile fight.
Taylor is considering his next move after becoming the undisputed super-lightweight champion, while Crawford and Arum have rarely seen eye to eye on how to proceed with his career.
Taylor has been put forward as a potential opponent for unified lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez should he make the move up to 140lbs, but it appears now that the Scottish champion could be moving up himself.
Lopez, also another Arum fighter, must first fully recover from coronavirus before taking part in a rescheduled mandatory defence against his IBF-designated rival George Kambosos Jr.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Arum explained his plans after Taylor fights his WBO mandatory challenger Jack Catterall.
"Josh is a major talent," Arum explained.
"He will be fighting Jack Catterall in November. Then, we hope, early next year we will be able to do a fight that will blow the lid off of everything in the UK.
"That would be Taylor challenging Crawford for the welterweight title.
"It would be primetime in the UK. We'd love to do it there in the spring with 60,000 people in Scotland. My grandson says Edinburgh is a fantastic city!"
