Josh Taylor reveals his ambition ahead of Jack Catterall rematch

Josh Taylor reveals his ambition ahead of Jack Catterall rematchDAZN
He has one thing in mind.

Josh Taylor is aiming to put on a much improved display with his rematch with Jack Catterall.

The former undisputed super lightweight champion is set to take on Catterall once more, with the pair having fought back in 2022.That clash saw Catterall lose by a controversial split decision, with many believing the Englishman had done enough for victory.

A rematch looked to be likely for 2023 but an injury led to both fighters looking elsewhere.Taylor lost in his last match-up, back in June, against Teofimo Lopez as he lost his WBO belt.

However he and Catterall will fight on Saturday night live on DAZN (in the UK), and Taylor is looking to achieve an emphatic win.

“It's a big fight in the UK. I am motivated for this fight, and I don't particularly like the guy. I want to shut his mouth and put him back under his rock and move on with my career,” Taylor said to BoxingScene

“I want to close the negativity and the cloud of doubt that is hanging over me. I want to shut it down and put it to bed and move on.

“[The first fight] was a terrible performance, and that's being generous. It was crap. I need to improve on everything from that fight. That Josh Taylor will never show up as long as I box. I am going to destroy Jack Caterall in absolutely every single department.

“If he comes to engage a little bit more, then I can't see nothing else but a win for myself. I'm looking forward to it.

“I’m grinding my teeth to say that I am still here as one of the top dogs.”
