Josh Warrington calls Mauricio Lara 'a ****' in explicit rant after Mexican admits spitting on rivalDAZN

Josh Warrington launched an expletive-laden response after Mauricio Lara admitted spitting on his former rival after his win over Leigh Wood.

Lara produced a devastating seventh round stoppage after sending the 34-year-old Wood to the canvas to win the WBA featherweight title.

There has been bad blood between Warrington and the Mexican after their double-header in 2021 that saw Lara win the first and draw the second.

Warrington was in attendance for the fight on Saturday night with speculation that a win for Wood would have teed up a fight at the City Ground in Nottingham between the British pair.,

For now, a rematch from Saturday’s fight seems the likely outcome, but speaking to IFL TV, Warrington said exactly what he thought of Lara.

He told them: “He’s a ****ing ****, he’s a ****ing *****. I said to couple of lads during the fight, I can’t stand the ****. I’ve never felt like that about any fighter. It’s just become nasty.”

The Yorkshire Post reported Warrington of accusing Lara of spitting at him, saying: “As soon as the fight’s been waved off, he looks over to me. He sees me. I actually thought he was looking over at times in between the fight. I got off my stool, his head goes forward, he spat on me. You know, I can have a little bit of pantomime – shouting and screaming – but somebody spitting on me? I’m not having it.

“He seems to have got this thing over the last few years that since the second fight I disrespected his family, disrespected his dad and this, that, and the other. I didn’t even know that his dad was part of his training team. But it’s got to the stage now that he wants to finish my career – I’m more than happy to let him have that opportunity.”

Lara told IFL TV: "Of course I did. Because it's personal between me and him and that's the way it will always be."
