David Nyika may only be two fights into his professional career, but he has already made some big decisions in pursuit of glory.
The New Zealander recently left his homeland to join fellow countryman Jospeh Parker in Morecambe and became a part of Tyson Fury's camp ahead of his clash with Dillian Whyte.
As a result, Nyika has immersed himself in the world of boxing and is excited for the monumental fight between undisputed women's lightweight champion Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night.
Speaking exclusively to DAZN News, Nyika was full of praise for Taylor and recalled a past encounter he had with one of women's boxing's pioneers.
"She [Katie Taylor] is one of those super sweet people, like annoyingly sweet [laughs], you wonder where she finds the dog," Nyika said.
"She is one of the, if not the best female pound for pound boxer. It’s between her and Claressa Shields in my mind. Maybe even Mikaela Mayer.
"Just given what Katie has accomplished already, the fact that she’s gone through the amateur rankings and clocked that, and then gone onto the pro platform and clocked that.
"Katie Taylor is a purest and I can appreciate that having been through the amatuer system and knowing how tough that is - and having transitioned now it’s a very different sport."
Regarding the fight itself which can be seen live on DAZN, the fact very little separates both Taylor and Serrano has made it difficult for Nyika to make a prediction ahead of a history making main event.
"I think it’s an interesting one. Katie Taylor has one pace, she is quick out the blocks and quick over the finish line.
"Without knowing much about Serrano, I think she is more equipped for the professional style and she’ll adjust the pace as she needs to.
"But if Katie Taylor can force someone to work that hard, because she does have such relentless pressure, she might just go ahead and blitz her over the rounds. She has a crazy work rate and crazy work ethic."
