'This is a fight game!' - Katie Taylor pushes back on 'dirty' claims after Amanda Serrano victory

Katie Taylor further played down any suggestion of unsportsmanlike conduct following her rematch win over Amanda Serrano after she scored victory by unanimous decision.

Two-and-a-half years on from their blockbuster first encounter, the Irishwoman and the Puerto Rican met again at AT&T Stadium on the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight card.

While the main event drew notable criticism, Taylor and Serrano served up another bruising classic, with the former deducted a point in the eighth round for head clashes.

Taylor ultimately prevailed 95-94 on all three scorecards , to the shock of her opponent and vocal booing from sections of the crowd in Dallas, Texas.

But speaking afterwards, Taylor refuted any suggestion that their frequent head contact - which opened a large cut on Serrano in the sixth - was an intentional ploy.

"It just happens when you're fighting against a southpaw, especially," she said. "It was completely accidental.

"It's a rough sport. Sometimes you get head clashes, sometimes you have to fight through those things. This is a fight game."

Many felt the second bout lived up to the high expectations set out by the first, and Taylor concurred that it was another occasion she was grateful to be part of.

"I think it was a very different fight [compared] to the first time," she added. "I started a bit slow and changed it up in the second half.

"I think I definitely landed a few bigger punches tonight, and I think that's actually what won the fight in the end, I feel.

"Two epic fights, two very close decisions. I'm just proud to be part of another huge night for women's boxing, but two different fights [for sure]."
