The Matchroom head explained his thoughts on the fight on the DAZN Boxing Show.

Eddie Hearn believes that Katie Taylor vs. Amando Serrano is more than a great fight, and is ‘a moment in time’.

Undisputed women's lightweight champion Taylor fights Puerto Rican challenger Serrano at Madison Square Garden in New York in an event that Hearn has often talked of putting on as one of his main ambitions.

That dream is on the cusp of becoming reality with DAZN broadcasting the fight worldwide on April 30.

Speaking to The DAZN Boxing Show, Hearn mentioned another fight for the same date, the super featherweight title fight between Oscar Valdez vs. Shakur Stevenson, and believes that his own event is a much bigger event.

“Katie Taylor vs Serrano has just become... Valdez-Stevnson is a great fight, but this is the only way I can make people realise how big this fight is,” he began.

“People in boxing watch this show. Nobody is talking about Stevenson-Valdez. It’s a great fight but Taylor vs Serrano is a moment in time. Trust me when I say the amount of media coming, I’ve never seen anything like it.”

“This fight comes around on Saturday, it’s going to be absolutely massive. The undercard is off the chain. Liam Smith vs Jessie Vargas is a main event in the US, the UK. It’s such a great night of boxing... and I cannot wait.”

Hearn explained that the fight is something that the public are excited for, and was happy to share the credit with YouTuber, boxer and promoter Jake Paul, whose Most Valuable Promotions represents Serrano.

“People have embraced it,” he stated.

“People are excited for this moment in time. People have bought into this moment.

“Jake Paul has been helping women’s boxing for six months, I’ve been doing it for six years. I don’t care, give him the plaudits.”
