Kell Brook names the fighter from his career who 'was an absolute monster'DAZN
Kell Brook fought many big names.

Kell Brook attempted to cause a huge upset in 2016 when he moved up to middleweight to challenge Gennadiy Golovkin in 2016.

At the time, both men were unbeaten, but it was Brook taking the biggest risk as he jumped up from welterweight to test himself against one of the most dangerous fighters in the sport.

Brook was unsuccessful in his attempt to become a two-weight world champion as he was unable to prevent Golovkin from piling on the pressure.

Golovkin retained his middleweight crown with an emphatic fifth-round stoppage as Brook was rescued but his concerned corner after suffering some damage to his eye.

Looking back on the fight with Simon Jordan, Brook has given Golovkin plenty of credit for his performance.

“Looking back at it, Gennady Golovkin was an absolute monster, he was someone who was unbeaten and believed he could beat any man – even at middleweight,” said Brook on the William Hill Up Front podcast

“I always thought that I could box him and keep out of the way, and that I was better, but as we know, it didn’t go down like that. It damaged me and it changed me.”
