Kell Brook refuses to confirm what his weight will be ahead of Amir Khan clash

Kell Brook refuses to confirm what his weight will be ahead of Amir Khan clashDAZN
The domestic rivals will square off on Saturday night.

Kell Brook refused to maintain a serious stance when discussing what weight he would enter his fight against Amir Khan on Saturday night.

Despite being a welterweight for the bulk of his career, Brook has had a few visits 154lbs and beyond. His fight with Khan is contracted for 149lbs, 2lbs north of the welter limit, but Brook is not promising to stick to that prior agreement.

If either fighter comes in above 149lbs then there will be a financial penalty of £100,000 for every pound.

Johnny Nelson, a former stablemate of Brook at the Winconbank gym in Sheffield, has advised his friend to consider entering at a heavier weight and risking the fine, but Brook is not revealing any concrete details on what his weight will be.

“You’re gonna have to wait and see if I come on weight,” said Brook when speaking to Sky Sports following a bad-tempered press conference.

“If I make 10st 9lbs or if I come in at a heavier weight. I might pay a few hundred grand, or I might be on the weight. We’ll have to wait and see. I might be playing games.”
