Keyshawn Davis celebrated his victory over Jose Pedraza on Thursday night by claiming he had proved any doubters wrong.
Davis was unbeaten going into his fight with two-time champion Pedraza yesterday evening, and a win gives him credibility that he should be considered a potential title challenge should he maintain his momentum.
With Ryan Garcia, Teofimo Lopez and Devin Haney all operating at 140lbs, there is room for new fighters to establish themselves, and the undefeated American could soon step up.
He forced the referee to step in a little over a minute into the sixth round in Las Vegas to take Pedraza out of harm’s way.
Davis said that he had met everyone’s expectations when he spoke to ESPN, reported BoxingScene.com.
“Throughout this whole training camp, I been saying I’m the best at 135,” he stated.
“And everybody kept saying, ‘Keyshawn, you gotta get the stoppage, you gotta get a knockout.’
“And I kept telling everybody, ‘Don’t worry about it. Just watch me work.’ And that’s exactly what happened. I got the stoppage. Thank you, Jesus.”
