Kostya Tszyu was one of the best fighters in the sport when competing at his peak as he scored a number of impressive wins at 140lbs.
Based in Australia for the bulk of his career, Tszyu was adored by his adopted country, but he also made a huge impact in America as he played his part in numerous memorable bouts.
Tszyu became a unified champion in 2001 when he produced a stunning a finish to stop Zab Judah in two rounds.
This victory added to Tszyu’s impressive record, but he would walk away from boxing in 2005 following a loss to Ricky Hatton in front of an emotional Manchester Arena.
After sharing the ring with many big punchers, who does Tszyu believe had the most power?
“Probably Vince Phillips,” said Tszyu when asked by The Ring in 2016 who hit him the hardest.
“It wasn’t my best night, but I felt his punches. It’s not an excuse but I wasn’t in the best shape of my career against Vince Phillips. I was ill, I had anemia. I felt every punch he threw.”
