There was confusion on Saturday night ahead of the Bulgarian's win.

Kubrat Pulev beat Jerry Forrest by unanimous decision on Saturday night in California, but the match-up might be remembered for something unusual.

The Bulgarian 41-year-old, who last fought in the boxing ring when he lost to Anthony Joshua back in 2020 as the Briton defended three belts at the time, was the comfortable winner over his American opponent.

The scorecards of 98-92, 99-91, and 99-91 went against the 34-year-old veteran who could take a punch but offered little in return.

However the fight caused controversy for another reason as it was delayed by hours because Forrest’s gloves did not fight the fighter, and both Forrest and his team needed to find a new pair that would satisfy Pulev and his representatives. Ultimately the Bulgarian lent a pair of his back-ups.

“We’re lending our gloves to Jerry Forrest,” Pulev’s promoter Ivaylo Gotzev explained during the broadcast, reported BoxingScene.com

“He’s gonna fight in Grants. We presented Jerry Forrest with the largest gloves ever made.”
