Lawrence Okolie hit the scales at 199.4lbs, just under the 200lbs cruiserweight limit and considerably heavier than 195.8lbs opponent Krzysztof Glowacki, on the eve of their battle for the vacant WBO cruiserweight championship in the main event of Matchroom Boxing's latest card at the SSE Arena, Wembley.
Rio 2016 Olympian Okolie, unbeaten as a pro in 15 fights, is taller and has a much longer reach than the Polish fighter, who held that very belt until he was controversially dethroned by Mairis Briedis in the World Boxing Super Series in 2019.
Nonetheless, the Londoner cut a rather reserved figure on the stage during and after the weigh-in, and he admitted in a subsequent interview that he isn't one for the grandstanding many boxers partake in prior to a big fight.
"I don’t see the point in doing long staredowns," he explained. "I don’t gain an extra advantage from it.
"All that matters is my gameplan on Saturday, how well he takes my punches and how well I take his. Everything else is just nonsense."
Okolie is expected to move up to heavyweight at some stage in his promising professional career, but he maintained that making cruiserweight isn't an issue as he targets his first world title.
He said: "I enjoy food and I can carry extra weight but when it comes to making weight, I train hard and I’m disciplined."
In chief support, Joe Cordina makes his long-awaited return to the ring and hopes to put several nagging issues with his hand behind him as he faces Faroukh Kourbanov.
The battle of the super-featherweights will be contested at an agreed catchweight of 133lbs, as opposed to the division's usual limit of 130lbs, and the Welshman took full advantage of the lee-weigh as he looks to shake off the ring rust with a reading of 132.4lbs to the Kyrgyzstan fighter's 130.5lbs.
