Could one fighter be about to have his profile raised?

Jim Lampley has seen many high-profile fighters carry the sport of boxing during his lengthy run as one of the game’s most renowned voices.

The legendary commentator has called the biggest night of many boxers, and now he thinks David Benavidez could become the face of boxing.

This weekend, Benavidez returns to action when he competes at light-heavyweight against former world champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk, which will be available on Prime Video PPV in the U.S. and UK (click here for more information).

Benavidez is hoping to secure a major showdown with Canelo Alvarez and during an interview with the Arizona man, Lampley was quick to praise him.

“I just watched a lot of talk at the news conference, and there were a lot of references to quote, ‘The face of boxing,’ " said Lampley when speaking alongside Benavidez on PPV.com

“I think you have a chance to clearly become the face of boxing, and I’m thinking it will be a far more dignified mode than what I saw today.”
