Lewis Crocker highlights differences between himself and Paddy Donovan ahead of welterweight clash

Lewis Crocker highlights differences between himself and Paddy Donovan ahead of welterweight clashMark Robinson/Matchroom Boxing

Lewis Crocker will rely on his experience when he takes on Paddy Donovan in a IBF welterweight title eliminator on March 1 in Belfast and live worldwide on DAZN

Not that there is much of an age difference between the two fighters, as 28-year-old Crocker is just two years older than his opponent. Donovan has fought in six fewer professional fights than Crocker, so in-ring experience isn't a massive factor either.

Instead, Crocker will be leaning on the fact that he has appeared at the top of the card more frequently that Donovan has, with both men preparing to fight in the main event of their bout.

"I think the major difference is in this fight between me and him is this will be like my fifth time headlining," Crocker said at the launch press conference for the fight on Thursday. "I felt more pressure against [Tyrone] McKenna than I do against him.

"This is his first time in a big fight. I’ve done way more professional rounds."

Additionally, Crocker feels that he has proven himself against better competition than Donovan has at this point in their respective careers.

"I’ve beat a better fighter than he’s ever beat," he said. "Let’s not forget, the worst version of me beat the best version of Conah Walker [last year]. I take confidence away from that.

"They’re taking way too much confidence from the Walker fight and I’ll be a different man, I’ll be a tough man to beat on March 1st – mark my words! I beat this man, without a doubt. It’s going to be the toughest night of his life."
