Shakur Stevenson’s world title defence against Joe Cordina that was scheduled for October 12 is no longer happening.
The Newark fighter was ready to have his fist bout as a Matchroom boxer, but that will now have to wait after he underwent surgery for an issue with his hand.
Stevenson, who’s eager to secure a fight with Gervonta Davis, will now be out of action until 2025 and it is unclear what his next fight will be.
If victorious against Cordina, Stevenson was linked to a showdown with William Zepeda.
An announcement is expected shortly on what will be next for both Stevenson and Cordina, but one thing is clear and that is that their upcoming fight will not be going ahead.
The show it was set to feature on, that is being headlined by Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol, will still go ahead.
