Muhammad Ali, Bernard Hopkins, and other fighters who turned back the clock as Mike Tyson returns to the ring against Jake Paul

Muhammad Ali, Bernard Hopkins, and other fighters who turned back the clock as Mike Tyson returns to the ring against Jake PaulDAZN
Can Tyson rediscover his old form like other fighters have managed?

Mike Tyson contests his first professional fight in almost two decades this weekend when he faces Jake Paul at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas.

At 58, The Baddest Man on the Planet is undoubtedly long past his prime, but can he defy belief and produce one last great moment against The Problem Child?

Here, DAZN looks back at other fighters who have managed to summon a great showing when it appeared they didn't have much left to give.

Muhammad Ali vs. George Foreman

Ali had been a professional for 14 years when he faced George Foreman in their legendary 1974 clash.

Foreman was the devastating heavyweight at the time and there were concerns for Ali’s safety following a lengthy career where he was involved in numerous challenging fights.

Instead, the face of boxing reminded people of his brilliant qualities as he weathered a Foreman onslaught before registering a memorable eighth round stoppage.

George Foreman vs. Michael Moorer

Foreman was looking to become heavyweight champion 20 years after his last reign, but he was facing a much younger fighter who was at the top of the division in Michael Moorer.

The Texas fighter, looking to regain the title he lost to Ali two decades earlier, had failed in an effort to become a belt-holder again in 1993 when losing to Tommy Morrison.

The following year, at 45 years of age, Foreman, still possessing his incredible power, found the shot to stop Moorer and he was once again world champion.

Bernard Hopkins vs. Kelly Pavlik

After losing to Joe Calzaghe in 2008, some within boxing expected Bernard Hopkins to be approaching the final stages of his illustrious career.

The same year, immediately following the Calzaghe bout, Hopkins was back in action as he faced Kelly Pavlik, a fast-rising, heavy-handed middleweight who had destroyed Jermain Taylor, the man who twice beat Hopkins.

Hopkins began the fight a huge underdog, but he produced one of the best performances of his life as he dominated the Youngstown fighter from the outset before winning widely on the scorecards.

Shane Mosley vs. Antonio Margarito

Mosley and Margarito collided in 2009, and both went into the bout after recently facing Miguel Cotto.

Mosley lost to the Puerto Rican in 2007 before the Mexican hammered him into submission the following year in a terrific battle.

Before their own bout, it was discovered by Mosley’s team that Margarito’s handwraps were illegal, but when the first bell sounded, Mosley looked incredible.

Reminding fight fans of the quality he once possessed, Mosley produced his best performance in years as he once again became world champion at welterweight with a ninth-round stoppage.

Wladimir Klitschko vs. Anthony Joshua

Klitschko walked into Wembley Stadium for his world title fight with Joshua as an inactive 41-year-old who was defeated by Tyson Fury in his previous fight.

After enduring a tough start, Klitschko almost caused an upset as he dropped Joshua and came close to stopping him.

Joshua weathered the storm to register a late TKO victory, but for Klitschko, it was a loss that raised his stock as he left the ring fully satisfied after giving it everything in his final fight.
