The upcoming undisputed world heavyweight title fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk is a historic moment for the sport of boxing with the winner becoming the first fighter to hold all four world heavyweight title belts.
However, when it comes to fights of this magnitude there are bumps in the road and there was a huge one this past Friday when the fight got postponed. This was due to a deep cut Fury picked up in sparring which meant a meeting with Usyk on February 17 was not possible.
Now the contest has been rearranged for May 18 in Saudi Arabia, but that will not make up for the sacrifices both men have made during what will have been gruelling training camps.
In an interview with BBC Sport, Usyk spoke about some of the sacrifices he had to make whilst training for the original February 17 in Spain and one of those was missing the birth of his second child at the end of January.
However, the former undisputed cruiserweight world champion acknowledged that these huge personal highlights can be missed and is now looking forward to returning to Ukraine for a few days while there is a brief pause in preparing for the showdown with Fury.
"I'm still happy - things happen, it's life," Usyk said.
"I'm very happy because I now go to Ukraine. I see my two daughters and my wife. I go to my church and pray. A little bit of rest and back to my camp."
