The big fight is fast approaching.
There’s only 11 days until Oleksandr Usyk meets Tyson Fury for a second time and you can see all the action live on DAZN Pay-Per-View.
Today, DAZN News looks at Fury’s eleventh fight when he finally got the better of John McDermott.
John McDermott was seen as the perfect opponent to aid Tyson Fury’s development when the pair first came together in 2009.
Fury had been a professional for less than a year, but he wasn't wasting time in testing himself against respected names on the heavyweight circuit.
McDermott had been around and faced numerous top names, and although he’d also enjoyed some big wins, he was intended to provide Fury with rounds rather than cause a huge upset.
Instead, it turned out to be one of the toughest nights of Fury’s career as McDermott put up a brilliant effort to almost upset the fast-rising Fury.
From the opening bell, McDermott’s pace didn’t relent as he forced Fury to fight at an uncomfortable pace.
Fury would come back with some eye-catching shots, and his work was undoubtedly smoother, but McDermott’s brave approach should’ve brought a bigger reward inside a congested Brentwood Centre in Essex.
Most in attendance, and those watching at home, believed McDermott was a worthy winner, but there was outrage when Fury was given the nod by a ridiculous score of 98-92 from Terry O’Connor.

The following summer, the pair would go at it again, and Fury had learnt his lesson from the first contest.
At the same venue, McDermott tried a similar approach, but he wasn’t able to maintain it as the fight dragged on.
Fury’s more telling shots were having a big impact and after dropping McDermott in the 8th round, he followed it up in the next session to force a stoppage.
Fury would go on to enjoy great rivalries with Deontay Wilder and Derek Chisora, eventually reigning as world champion, but his two-fight feud with McDermott provided the future lineal ruler with some vital experience.
