Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury 2: Fury predicts specific ending to heavyweight title rematch

Tyson Fury foresees a knockout victory in his favour when he takes on Oleksandr Usyk in December.

The fighters are preparing for their rematch in Saudi Arabia, live on DAZN Pay-Per-View, after Usyk defeated Fury by split decision in May to claim the WBC title and become undisputed world heavyweight champion.

It was the first loss of Fury's career and makes the Briton the challenger to Usyk's throne in the rematch, but the 36-year-old former champion hasn't been discouraged by the defeat. Speaking on Wednesday at a pre-fight press conference, Fury called the May fight a "fair and square" victory for Usyk, but vowed to be "a little more focused" when the men square off Dec. 31.

Along with making a public committment to prioritizing an improved strategy against Usyk, Fury also invoked rematches that he's been involved in in the past and how he's fared in those bouts. Without naming the opponents, the Briton pointed out that he has always ended fights early when involved in rematches — such was the case in his rematches and trilogy fights against both Derek Chisora and Deontay Wilder.

"As it would seem, my rematch[es] with people always ends one way, I always end up knocking them out in the rematch," Fury said. "Whoever I faced more than once has been knocked out in the rematch. So I'm envisaging something similar in the second fight with Usyk."

While he is confident that the fight will go his way and will do his best to prepare himself for the massive contest, Fury isn't going to overcomplicate his preparations.

The plans, he said, are quite simple.

"All I can do is prepare well, train hard, eat well, go to bed early, wake up early, do the right things, listen to people around me, and the rest is in God's hands," Fury said.
